Fracture of the Talus

Definition:
A break, especially the breaking of a bone or cartilage in the talus.
Symptoms:
  • Pain in the ankle
  • Inability to bear weight
  • Considerable swelling and tenderness
Causes:
  • Motor vehicle accident
  • Fall from height
Treatment:
  • Period of immobilization
  • Progress to ROM and stretching exercises
  • Foot intrinsic muscle strengthening
  • Lower extremity strengthening
