Definition:
Inflammation of the bursas surrounding the tibial lateral collateral ligaments.
Symptoms:
  • Pain in the knee
  • Pain with walking
  • Pain with squatting
  • Swelling in the medial knee
  • Point tender to tibial lateral collateral ligament
Causes:
  • Overuse
  • Repetitive jumping, walking, running
  • Direct blow
  • Trauma
  • Muscle imbalance
Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching
  • Soft tissue massage
  • Knee stabilization exercises
  • Lower extremity strengthening
  • Cryotherapy
