Schmorls Nodes Thoracic Region
Definition:
Prolapse of the nucleus pulposus through the thoracic vertebral body endplate into the spongiosa of an adjacent vertebra.
Symptoms:
- May or may not be symptomatic
- Mid back pain
- Chronic pain
- Radiculopathy
Causes:
- Arthritis
- Scoliosis
- Thoracic spine stenosis
- Sports injury
- Degeneration
- Genetic component
Treatment:
- ROM and stretching
- Core stabilization exercises
- Lower and upper extremity strengthening
- Posture program
