Ulnar Nerve Neuritis

Definition:
Inflammation of the ulnar nerve.
Symptoms:
  • Numbness and tingling into the fourth and fifth fingers
  • Pain in the elbow
  • Weakness in the hand
Causes:
  • Repeated activities with a flexed elbow- driving, sleeping, keyboarding, weightlifting
  • Entrapment of the ulnar nerve at the elbow or wrist
  • Trauma to elbow
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching
  • Posture program
  • Hand intrinsic muscle strengthening
  • Upper extremity strengthening
