Cervical Stiffness

Definition:
Nonspecific term for limited cervical mobility, often due to muscle cramps and spasm accompanied by pain.
Symptoms:
  • Pain in the neck
  • Stiffness in the neck
  • Muscle spasm
Causes:
  • Muscle spasm
  • Neck sprain/strain
  • Arthritis
  • Neck injury
Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching to neck
  • Posture program
  • Neck stabilization exercises
  • Upper extremity strengthening exercises
  • Soft tissue massage
