Bursitis Wrist

Definition:
Inflammation of a bursa, a closed sac or envelope lined with synovial membrane and containing synovial fluid, within the wrist.
Symptoms:
  • Pain in the wrist
  • Pain with wrist extension and weight bearing
  • A small bump or swelling on the top of the wrist
  • Swelling in the wrist
  • Warm to the touch
Causes:
  • Overuse
  • Repetitive weight bearing on hands
  • Sudden impact
  • Faulty posture
Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching to wrist
  • Upper extremity strengthening
  • Posture program
