Definition:

Symptoms:

• Pain in the front of the shoulder
• Sharp pain with shoulder movements
• Point tender to clavicle

Causes:

• Fall on an outstretched hand
• Fall onto shoulder
• Direct blow to clavicle

Treatment:

• Use of a sling for immobilization
• Surgical intervention is sometimes required
• Progress to shoulder ROM exercises and stretching
• Posture program
• Strengthen shoulder stabilizers
