Fracture Pelvis

Definition:
A break, especially the breaking of a bone or cartilage in the pelvis.
Symptoms:
  • Abdominal pain
  • Numbness or tingling in the groin or legs
  • Bleeding from the vagina, urethra, or the rectum
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Difficulty walking or standing
Causes:
  • Fall
  • Motor vehicle accident
  • Cycling accident
Treatment:
  • Possible surgical intervention
  • Period of immobilization
  • Progress to ROM and stretching exercises
  • Core stabilization muscle strengthening
  • Lower extremity strengthening
