Definition:

In medicine, Spondylopathies is a general term for disorders of the vertebrae. When involving inflammation, it can be called spondylitis. In contrast, a spondyloarthropathy is a condition involving the vertebral joints, but many conditions involve both spondylopathy and spondyloarthropathy.

Symptoms:

• Stiffness of the vertebral column
• Pain with spinal motion
• Tenderness with palpation pressure
• Prominence of certain vertebral spine

Causes:

• Autoimmune disease
• Genetic factor

Treatment:

• ROM and stretching exercises
• Posture program
• Core stabilization exercises
• Upper and lower extremity strengthening
