Lumbar Spondylosis with Myelopathy

Definition:
Degenerative osteoarthritis of the joints between the centre of the spinal vertebrae and/or neural foraminae that compresses the spinal cord.
Symptoms:
  • Pain in the low back
  • Stiffness in the low back
  • Numbness in the lower extremity
  • Weakness in the lower extremity
  • Radiating pain into the lower extremity
  • Not able to walk freely
  • Unable to stand for a long time
  • Pain when he is going to lie down on the bed
  • Lose his balance while standing because of the problem in the nervous system and lack of coordination of affected regions
Causes:
  • Back trauma
  • Protrusion of the disc tissues

Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching
  • Posture program
  • Core stabilization strengthening
  • Lower extremity strengthening
  • Possible surgical intervention
