Disorders of the Coccyx

Definition:
A disturbance of function or structure to the coccyx, resulting from a genetic or embryologic failure in development from exogenous factors such as poison, trauma, or disease.
Symptoms:
  • Pain in the buttocks
  • Pain with sitting
  • Stiffness in back
  • Numbness in legs
Causes:
  • Genetic or embryologic failure in development from exogenous factors such as poison, trauma, or disease
  • Backward fall onto a hard surface
Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching exercises
  • Core stabilization exercises
