Definition:
Fracture that involves the growth plate in the proximal finger bone
Symptoms:
- Pain in the finger
- Swelling in the finger and hand
- Loss of ROM in the finger
- Physical deformity of finger in abduction
Causes:
- Common in children
- Heavy object fall on hand
- Heavy object roll on hand
- Fall
Treatment:
- Period of immobilization
- Progress to ROM and stretching exercises
- Hand intrinsic muscle strengthening
