Fracture Lower End of Forearm
Definition:
A break, especially the breaking of a bone or cartilage in the lower end of forearm.
Symptoms:
- Pain in the forearm
- Swelling in the forearm
- Loss of ROM in the forearm
- Bruising
- Possible deformity in the forearm
Causes:
- Direct blow
- Fall onto an outstretched hand
- Heavy object falling onto foream
Treatment:
- Period of immobilization
- Progress to ROM and stretching exercises
- Hand intrinsic muscle strengthening
- Upper extremity strengthening
