Tenosynovitis of Hand and Wrist
Definition:
Inflammation of the tendon and its enveloping sheath of the hand and wrist.
Symptoms:
- Hand, wrist, or thumb pain
- Point tender on the tendon affected
- Swelling over the affected tendon
- Pain with gripping
- Pain with wrist or hand movements
Causes:
- Overuse
- Repetitive movements of the thumb, wrist, hand
Treatment:
- Soft tissue massage
- ROM and stretching exercises
- Posture program
- Hand intrinsic muscle strengthening
- Upper extremity strengthening
