Rupture Extensor Tendons of Hand and Wrist
Definition:
A solution of continuity or a tear; a break of the extensor tendons of the hand and wrist.
Symptoms:
- Unable to extend finger
- Flexion deformity
- Swelling in the hand
- Loss of ROM in the affected finger
- Pain in the affected fingers
Treatment:
- Possible surgical intervention
- Possible immobilization
- Progress to ROM and stretching exercises
- Hand intrinsic muscle strengthening
- Upper extremity strengthening
