Fracture of Pisiform Bone of Wrist

Definition:
A break, especially the breaking of a bone or cartilage in the pisiform bone of wrist.
Symptoms:
  • Pain in the wrist
  • Swelling in the wrist
  • Bruising
  • Point tender to palm of hand
Causes:
  • Fall on outstretched hand
  • Heel of hand striking an object
Treatment:
  • Period of immobilization
  • Progress to ROM and stretching exercises
  • Hand intrinsic muscle strengthening
  • Upper extremity strengthening
