Knee Posterior Medial Rotary Instability

Definition:
The state of being unstable, or lacking stability in the anterior medial knee. The abnormal tendency of a joint to subluxate or dislocate with normal activities and stresses.
Symptoms:
  • Instability in the knee
  • Pain in the knee
  • Swelling in the knee
  • Knee stiffness
Causes:
  • Disruption of ACL and MCL
  • Medial meniscus injury
Treatment:
  • Possible surgical intervention
  • ROM and stretching
  • Knee stabilization exercises
  • Lower extremity strengthening exercises
