Knee Combined Instability of Tibiofemoral Joint

Definition:
The state of being unstable or lacking stability in the knee. The abnormal tendency of a joint to sublux or dislocate with normal activities and stresses.
Symptoms:
  • Sensation of knee giving out
  • Worse with twisting movements
  • Leg weakness
Causes:
  • Ligament injury
Treatment:
  • Possible surgical intervention
  • Progress to ROM and stretching
  • Knee stabilization exercises
  • Lower extremity strengthening exercises
