Patella Tendinitis
Definition:
Inflammation of the tendons attached to the patella.
Symptoms:
- Pain/ache in the inferior patellar region of the knee
- Pain with jumping or running
- Swelling in the anterior knee
- Point tender to patella tendon
Causes:
- Overuse injury from repetitive overloading of the extensor mechanism of the knee
- Muscle imbalance
Treatment:
- ROM and stretching
- Knee stabilization strengthening
- Lower extremity strengthening exercise
- Gait program
