Femoral Nerve Injury

Definition:
Damage, harm, or loss to the femoral nerve particularly as the result of external force.
Symptoms:
  • Sensation changes in the thigh, knee, leg (numbness, tingling, burning)
  • Leg giving way
  • Weakness in the leg
Causes:
  • Direct trauma
  • Prolonged pressure on the nerve
  • Fracture in pelvic bone
Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching exercises to the leg
  • Lower extremity strengthening
  • Balance re training
