Villonodular Synovitis of the Upper Arm
Definition:
Proliferation of synovial tissue of the upper arm, composed of synovial villi and fibrous nodules infiltrated by giant cells and macrophages.
Symptoms:
- Swelling in the upper arm
- Pain in the upper arm, especially with movement
- Sudden onset
- Loss of ROM in the upper arm
- Upper arm feels warm to touch
Treatment:
- ROM and stretching
- Upper extremity strengthening
- Possible surgical intervention
