Dislocation of the Shoulder
Definition:
Displacement of the shoulder; specifically disturbance or disarrangement of the normal relation of the bones entering into the formation of a joint.
Symptoms:
- Pain in the shoulder
- Loss of ROM in the shoulder
- Numbness in the arm
- Instability of the shoulder
Causes:
- Fall on an out stretched hand
- Direct blow
Treatment:
- Period of immobilization
- Progress to ROM and stretching exercise
- Strengthen shoulder stabilizers
