Dislocation or Subluxation of the Shoulder
Definition:
An incomplete luxation or displacement of the shoulder; although a relationship is altered, contact between joint surfaces remains.
Symptoms:
- Pain in the shoulder
- Loss of ROM in the shoulder
- Numbness in the arm
- Instability of the shoulder
Causes:
- Fall on out stretched hand
- Direct blow
Treatment:
- Period of immobilization
- Progress to ROM and stretching exercise
- Strengthen shoulder stabilizers
