Dislocation or Subluxation of the Anterior Humerus

Definition:
Displacement of the anterior humerus; specifically disturbance or disarrangement of the normal relation of the bones entering into the formation of a joint
Symptoms:
  • Pain in the shoulder
  • Instability of the shoulder
  • Loss of ROM of the shoulder
  • Numbness in the arm
Causes:
  • Direct blow to shoulder
  • Fall on an outstretched hand
Treatment:
  • Period of immobilization
  • Progress to ROM and stretching of shoulder
  • Strengthen shoulder stabilizers
  • Posture program
