Crushing Injury of the Shoulder

Definition:
An injury caused by a crushing blow to the shoulder is different from all other injuries in the amount and unpredictability of the damage that is caused, the amount of scar tissue and the time required for healing.
Symptoms:
  • Pain in the shoulder
  • Loss of ROM in the shoulder
  • Possible fracture
Causes:
  • Fall
  • Direct blow
  • Motor vehicle accident
Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching to shoulder
  • Posture program
  • Upper extremity strengthening program
