Cervical Root Lesions

Definition:
An abnormal condition resulting from compression of spinal nerve roots in the neck region; involves neck pains and muscular weakness and paresthesia.
Symptoms:
  • Dermatomal pain, paresthesias, sensory loss
  • Neck pain
  • Muscle spasm in the neck
Causes:
  • Chronic pressure on nerve root
  • Injury
  • Arthritis
  • Cancerous lesion
Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching to neck
  • Postural program
  • Upper extremity strengthening
  • Soft tissue massage
