Spinal Stenosis Cervical

Definition:
Abnormal narrowing of the cervical spinal canal, often with compression of the spinal cord.
Symptoms:
  • Pain in the neck
  • Radiating pain in the upper extremity
  • Numbness in the upper extremity
  • Loss of motor control in the upper extremity
  • Standing discomfort
  • Weakness
  • Bilateral symptoms
  • Neck stiffness
Causes:
  • Age related degeneration
  • Arthritis
  • Heredity
  • Instability of the spine
  • Trauma to the spine
  • Tumor
Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching
  • Core and neck stabilization exercises
  • Upper extremity strengthening
  • Pain relief posture education
