Sprains of the Sacroiliac Region Unspecified

Definition:
An injury to the sacroiliac region (unspecified) when the joint is carried through a range of motion greater than normal, but without dislocation or fracture.
Symptoms:
  • Sharp or aching pain in the low back or hip
  • Radiating pain into lower extremity
  • Loss of ROM in the low back
  • Tender with palpation on the sacrum
Causes:
  • Fall
  • Trauma
  • Pregnancy
  • Repetitive movements
Treatment:
  • ROM and stretching
