Hip Bursitis
Definition:
Inflammation of the bursas near the hip.
Symptoms:
- Pain on the lateral hip
- Point tender to the lateral hip
- Pain with walking
- Pain with laying on affected hip
Causes:
- Repetitive stress- running, stair climbing, bicycling, or standing for long periods of time.
- Hip injury
- Spine disease- scoliosis, arthritis of the lumbar spine
- Leg-length inequality
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Previous surgery
- Bone spurs or calcium deposits
Treatment:
- Soft tissue massage
- Core stabilization exercise
- Gait program
- Lower extremity strengthening exercise
- ROM and stretching exercise
