Glute tendinitis

Definition:
Inflammation of the tendons attached to the gluteus muscles.
Symptoms:
  • Pain on the lateral leg
  • Tenderness on the lateral leg
  • Swelling on the lateral leg
  • Pain worse with stair climbing and walking
Causes:
  • Repetitive movement
  • Disuse
  • Muscle weakness
  • Excessive running
  • Tight musculature
Treatment:
  • Cross friction massage
  • ROM and stretching exercises
  • Hip stabilization exercises
  • Core stabilization exercises
  • Lower extremity strengthening
