Laxity of Talotibial Joint

Definition:
Looseness or freedom of movement of the talotibial joint, normally or excessive.
Symptoms:
  • Loose feeling in the ankle
  • Pain in the ankle
  • Point tender on injured ligament
Causes:
  • Ligament injury
  • Bone fracture
  • Inheritable connective tissue disorder
  • Congenital
  • Chronic ankle sprain
Treatment:
  • Foot intrinsic muscle strengthening
  • Lower extremity strengthening
  • Ankle stabilization exercises
