Posterior Tibialis Tendinitis
Definition:
Inflammation of the posterior tibialis tendons.
Symptoms:
- Fallen arch
- Pain in the medial ankle
- Swelling in the medial ankle
- Pain worse with activities
- Pain with walking or standing
- Point tender with palpation to the medial ankle
Causes:
- Overuse- high-impact sports, such as basketball, tennis, or soccer
- Muscle imbalance
- Degeneration
Treatment:
- Soft tissue massage
- ROM and stretching
- Foot intrinsic muscle strengthening
- Lower extremity strengthening
