Extensor Digitorum Longus Tendinitis
Definition:
Inflammation of the tendons attached to the extensor digitorum longus.
Symptoms:
- Pain on the top of the foot
- Pain worse with running
- Swelling on the top of the foot
- Pain with curling toes
Causes:
- Overuse
- Badly fitting shoes
- Faulty gait pattern
- Tight calf muscles
- Excessive running
Treatment:
- ROM and stretching exercises
- Foot intrinsic muscle strengthening
- Gait pattern correction
- Running pattern correction
